It’s Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, an annual celebration of medical laboratory professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in health care and patient advocacy.
This year the theme is “It’s Alright, Cuz You’re Saved by the Lab.”
Our Public Health Laboratory is an essential part of public health and consists of more than 100 laboratory professionals, both laboratorians and support staff. On a typical day, these professionals receive and process specimens sent to the laboratory, providing rapid and accurate results to medical service providers throughout the state.
Our agency joins the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health and others in recognizing April as National Minority Health Month. This year’s theme is “Better Health Through Better Understanding.”
A great way to see and appreciate South Carolina is to visit its State Parks. More than 90,000 acres of protected lands stretch from the mountains to the sea in our great state. South Carolina State Parks include natural, cultural, and recreational destinations.
If you are considering doing some yardwork or gardening for Earth Day, our Environmental Affairs team encourages you to use South Carolina native plants. Many nurseries carry native plants, so please ask what is available at your favorite shopping location.
The 2023 Earth Day theme is “Investing in the Planet.” Below is a list of resources that can help to guide you in making environmentally conscious investments through choosing green-certified companies, banks, and restaurants/ food products.
